Hello! I am the Assistant Editor at Shire Publications, a niche publisher specialising in history, heritage & antiques. Our books range from broad surveys of social & political history (such as Roman Britain & The Slave Trade) to fascinating in-depth studies (such as Early Anglo-Saxon Coins & The Victorian Fern Craze).
Shire Histories is the fruit of my attempt to explore & understand the huge amount of information at my fingertips in the Shire archive. An extension of my sometimes rambling & often rather silly tweeting (@ShireHistories), each week I will be exploring a different historical era or topic, inspired by one of our books. Aside from allowing me to indulge in happily reading history books all day, I hope to offer glimpses into the social lives of our ancestors & suggest how you can discover more for yourselves with the best online historical resources & related places to visit around the country.
